MGCG is accepting grants for the Spring of 2025! Please submit an online application by March 1, 2025. All applications must be submitted before the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please contact us with questions at grants@mgcg.org.

Purpose

To provide monetary funds to active members of Master Gardeners of Central Georgia (MGCG) for pre-approved projects promoting research-based horticultural practices in central Georgia. MGCG grants are awarded in the spring and fall. Funding ranges from $100 – $400.

Eligibility

Any regular or lifetime MGCG member may request funding for a project pre-approved by their extension agent. Partner organizations or other outside parties cannot apply on behalf of a MGCG member. Grants are for projects that promote MGCG’s mission and are not currently affiliated with other MGCG budgeted programs. The project must be within the defined central Georgia area of Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach, and Twiggs counties. Expectations from Funded Grants

The project must be completed one year from funding date. Awardees may be asked to present their project upon completion. Awardees shall agree to:

  • Spend the monies awarded as outlined on the grant application unless given prior approval.

  • Return any unspent funds at the end of the grant period.

  • Provide a brief report with photos.

  • Submit a financial accounting of actual expenses vs. budgeted expenses.

  • Allow visits by the MGCG Executive Board and/or MGCG Grant Subcommittee members.

  • Allow MGCG to publicize the project through local media, social media, and MGCG publications.

  • Credit MGCG for financially supporting the project when appropriate.

  • Hold harmless MGCG for all claims or liability arising from implementation of the project.

Georgia MGEV State Priorities

Projects will be funded in any of the five initiatives established by the University of Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteer (MGEV) program.
