Master Gardener Volunteers have partnered with Middle Georgia Regional Library at Charles Lanford Library in south Bibb county. This library has two beautiful, large flower pots on either side of the front entrance which make a great place for Master Gardeners to highlight the beauty of plants to citizens in our community. Master Gardeners of Central Georgia generously provided grant funding for this project which allows for two seasonal plantings per year.
To educate the public a flyer explaining what plants are in the pots is on display inside the library. This allows Library staff to refer patrons to the sign which provides detailed information about the plants. Additionally, several Extension publications are made available to library patrons including: Gardening in Containers, Gardening in Containers Using Tropical Plants and Success with Mixed Containers Using Perennial and Woody Plants. This brings attention to the resources available on the Extension website and guides visitors to the site.
You can visit these beautiful containers at the Charles Lanford Library at 6504 Houston Rd, Macon, GA 31216. Be sure to see the garden behind the building that is part of the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail.
