
Master Gardener of the Year Award
BY-LAWS & APPENDICES - Appendix B
A. PURPOSE:
To honor a MGCG member as Master Gardener of the Year.
B. SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Good standing according to the MGCG bylaws
2. Volunteer hours
3. Continuing Education and/or Advanced Training hours
4. Nomination form providing evidence of support for the goals and vision of MGCG
C. PROCESS:
1. Any active MGCG member may submit a nomination form to his/her chapter chair or to any member of the Executive Board for consideration. The nomination form can be downloaded from the MGCG.org website. Nominations should be received by October 31.
2. MGCG advisors, in their positions as County Extension Agents, will furnish to the Executive Board, from MG Log, the number and variety of Volunteer hours, Continuing Education hours and Advanced Training credits as of November 1.
3. In November, the MGCG Executive Board and Advisors will evaluate all nominations and by consensus select the Master Gardener of the Year.
4. If a member of the Executive Board is nominated for Master Gardener of the Year, he/she will recuse himself/herself from the selection/voting process.
D. RECOGNITION AND AWARD:
1. The Master Gardener of the Year will receive a certificate and a plaque during the annual holiday celebration held in December. His or her name will also be added to the plaque that will be housed at the Bibb County Cooperative Extension Office in even numbered years and at the Houston County Cooperative Extension Office in odd numbered years.
2. An individual may not be selected as Master Gardener of the Year in two consecutive years.
